Countdown to DHF – Saturday 30 April & Sunday 1 May

Donington Park is gearing up to welcome spectators back to the action-packed Donington Historic Festival this weekend (Saturday April 30 and Sunday 1 May). Advance discounted tickets, giving savings over the on-the-gate price, are on sale until 4pm this Thursday, 28 April – so you still have time to grab a bargain for this family-friendly event.

Historic motorsport fans are in for a treat, with Touring Cars spanning four decades, two thundering races for original factory Group C cars, the glorious pre-‘56 and pre-‘61 sports cars of the combined Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy & Stirling Moss Trophy race, a dedicated 80-minute spectacular into the twilight for Ford GT40s, a round of the ever-popular Jaguar Classic Challenge, sprightly pre-War Sports Cars – some nearly a century old –  and the epic endurance battle that is the Royal Automobile Club Pall Mall Cup. Star cars include the only Group C/GTP car that the great Paul Newman ever raced – a Spice SE89p.

Off-track attractions include displays from dozens of car clubs in the Infield and on the Melbourne Loop, flypasts from the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, lunchtime track parades, a trade village where classic car buffs can shop to their heart’s delight, a static display from the British Historic Kart Club and, on the Sunday, a display of superb concours cars from the Cheshire Concours d’Espirit. In addition, the Sporting Bears Motor Club will be running Dream Rides on local roads in classic and super cars in aid of charity, and the open-access paddock and lunchtime pitlane walks will allow spectators to get up close to all that lovely racing machinery. All this, and you still have Bank Holiday Monday to relax at home!
