EAV Commence trial with leading television and film facilities company

11th May 2022 – Electric Assisted Vehicles Limited (EAV), the Oxfordshire-based sustainable zero-emissions vehicles manufacturers, have commenced a micromobility trial working with leading UK film and television facilities company, BTFS.

The EAV2Cubed will be deployed on location sets at various productions over the coming few weeks to assess the value of using micromobility to move items such as costumes or camera, lighting, or sound equipment from the operating base to the filming location.

“BTFS was recently awarded official supplier status by ‘albert’, which is the decarbonisation initiative from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).” said Brian Baker, Chairman and Managing Director at BTFS.  “All productions in the UK are now required to register with the albert initiative and use a carbon calculator to determine the carbon footprint of their production.  Using the EAV2Cubed for short van journeys on location should see a reduction in carbon output with no loss of efficiency or delays to the production schedule.”

The latest zero emissions EAV2Cubed has a capacity of 2 cubic meters and a load carrying capability of up to 200kgs making it ideal for moving around the various items that are needed on film and television production sets.  The electric assistance provides for easy progress over most ground conditions and the light weight of the vehicle makes for very little infrastructure impact.  The 2Cubed has a range of up to 40 miles on a single charge so more than enough for most location film or television productions.

“We’re really excited to be working with BTFS introducing yet another application for the EAV2Cubed, this time in the film and television industry.” said Adam Barmby, Founder and CEO of EAV.  “The film industry has really pioneered a very positive and active campaign for de-carbonisation with a lot of emphasis being placed on the importance of the environment and sustainability by production crews and cast.  BTFS are one of the principal facilities companies in the UK and are leading the industry in adopting a responsible and highly proactive approach to reduce carbon emissions throughout the entire location production process. We bring increased efficiency and functionality to their fleet as well as contributing to a reduction in their overall emissions and therefore improving their client productions’ carbon score.  It’s another great opportunity for EAV to demonstrate the effectiveness of our highly versatile micromobility platform replacing legacy vans.”

BTFS are currently deploying to several new productions throughout the summer and the EAV2Cubed will be evaluated both by the company and members of the production team and albert with the results reviewed with EAV for publication.
